Development Engineer R&D Pipe Development
at GF Building Flow Solutions/Uponor

Did you know that GF Building Flow Solutions, formerly known as Uponor, is one of the world's largest manufacturers of plastic pipes and a system supplier for water transport solutions?

In 1972, Uponor invented the PEX pipe and, a few years later, the world's first composite pipe with seamless technology without weld seams. Global product development for pipes is based in Sweden, while manufacturing takes place in 5 factories across Europe, one of which is located in Virsbo, as well as at two sister factories in the USA.

We are now looking for a dedicated and technically skilled development engineer for R&D Pipe Development. If you have a strong interest in innovative material and product development and want to grow together with us and our customers, this is the right role for you! The focus areas for the position are our product categories within composite and PEX pipes.

About the role
The work is both broad and varied, focusing on developing, improving, and implementing new materials and technologies within composite and PEX. You will drive the work in an early innovation-focused incubation phase and participate in company-wide development projects, working in cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions. The work includes leading material tests and trials, performance analyses, and ensuring that the products meet technical requirements and quality standards.

The role also involves collaboration with suppliers and other partners, as well as identifying improvement opportunities in production processes to contribute to resource efficiency and design. In this role, you will also support product managers and salespeople with technical expertise. The position is based in Virsbo but can be partially remote.

About you
We are looking for someone who is analytical, solution-oriented, and has a structured approach to work. You have an academic background in materials engineering, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or equivalent. Experience in product development, material testing, or manufacturing processes is an advantage. The role may also involve some project management, and experience in this area is a plus.

As a person, you are communicative and enjoy collaborating in cross-functional teams, while also having the ability to work independently and drive activities and projects forward. You are creative, curious, and have a genuine commitment to finding sustainable and innovative solutions. Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is a requirement. Knowledge of German is highly meritorious as it facilitates collaboration with our German colleagues. Basic CAD skills are advantageous for product data management.

We offer
The opportunity to work partially remotely, exciting development projects in a global organization, and a chance to contribute to the innovative solutions for water management of the future. We are proud of our inclusive and sustainable work culture. Here, you will be part of a forward-thinking, people-centered company where your ideas and contributions truly matter. You will have the opportunity to influence and develop – both personally and in your professional role, as well as be part of an international company with a strong local presence.

GF Building Flow Solutions (formerly Uponor) is a division of the international industrial company Georg Fischer (GF) – with sales companies in 30 countries and production facilities in 13 locations in Europe and America. Read more at - www.uponorgroup.com/en-en (http://www.uponorgroup.com/en-en)
